Spartan Run

Jess was such a hotshot and competed in the Spartan Run in Soldier's Hollow. The race is 8 miles long with multiple obstacle courses mixed in. He had never really run in any competitive race before this one, so he trained for a few weeks. Despite all the training, he said that nothing could have prepared him for it. The race started at 10:30 and he came into the finish line in between 12:30 and 1pm. Jess's parents and Laura came and I'm so grateful they did because I was able to get some fun pics while they were playing with Crew. It was such a hot day, we both got such bad sunburns bc I forgot the sunscreen (what's up with that, nurse Lacy?) Luckily, Crew had a hat and was underneath an umbrella pretty much the whole time so he escaped the rays. We were so proud of Jess when he crossed! Go, Babe!

Jess ran with some friends from work: (Left-->Right) Hunter Smith, Mark Stokes, Jess, Tyson Croft.

Getting ready...

It was hhhhooooooottt!

Jess crawling under the barbed wire. Some of the other obstacles were: rope climbing, spear throwing, rubix cube, running through mud, running through fire, etc...if you were unable to complete the obstacle you had to do 30 burpees.

Just ran through the mud pit.

Finished!

The crew after the race. The two on the ends finished ridiculously fast, so they already washed off when the others finished.

All clean: Hunter Smith, Jess, Cassadi Dente.

4th of July Week

My mom and sister, Olivia, came out to visit for the week of July 4th. We had such a good time! Family visits always go way too fast. Crewser loved having all of the extra attention. Im so bad at taking pictures when family is in town, so I don't have many with all of us together. For the 4th we went to a family BBQ at the Baldwin's home then we bought a bunch of fireworks to do later that night. We lit them off at an elementary school down the road from our house bc we aren't allowed to do them in our area, due to how close it is to the mountain. Crew had a blast. It started raining in the middle of lighting them off, so we cut it short and headed home. We also went to a BBQ in SLC and took a trip to 7 Peaks while my mom and sister were here. So fun! My house was too quiet after they left.

Crew, why must you always be so serious???

I took Crew down one of the slides and the lifeguard made me take off his shoes. The slide was SO not fun. It was one where you had to lay on your back in order to get the speed you needed. I had Crew on my lap so of course I thought, "I don't need to lay down". Anyway, I literally had to scoot my way down with a baby in one hand and some shoes in the other. I lost handle of one of the shoes. Jess said that when he saw the shoe he was expecting us any second. Well, it was more like a minute after the shoe did we come scooting down.

Las Vegas, NV

We took a trip down to Vegas in the beginning of May to see the area and also to visit some friends. It was sooo hot! I always thought that maybe Vegas could have been a place where we might end up, but I quickly wrote it off bc of the heat. We did have fun though!

On our way down we stopped in Beaver to see Grandma Baldwin and Max. It was a nice visit. We also stopped in St. George to see one of Jess's old mission companions (Aaron Mathews), but didn't get any pics.

This kid is so good. He was just peachy in the car on the way down.

We went down to "the strip" on one of the nights. Def NOT worth the crowds. It was gross. This pic was taken in one of the hotels. These two little gals were our biggest fans. They were such good sports putting up with another baby staying at their house.

The Bellagio fountains were by far the highlight. So pretty!

Took a day to do some swimming. It was opening day at the pool, so the water was coooold.

Our friends have a pool, so naturally we spent lots of time out there: The boys enjoying Otter Pops.

We decided to leave to go home in the evening and drive through the night. Not the BEST idea ever. We seriously struggled, but made it nonetheless.

RN, BSN: UVU Graduation

I wrapped up my looong journey of nursing school on April 29, 2011. Talk about exciting! It feels great not to have homework, projects, clinical hanging over my head any more. I have been in school for so long, it really feels so weird, but I am grateful for a break! I love being able to spend more time with Crewser and because I am done, that means Jess can now finish up!

The Luckiest

Jess did a sweet thing and nominated Laura (his little sister) for a "sub-for-santa" gift from his work, APX-alarm. Jess wrote in to the company and just told some stories of Laura and how she is in love with "D-Will" from the Utah Jazz. They ended up gifting Laura and her family Jazz tickets with what's called a "Benchwarmers" pass so that they could all meet the players and get their autographs. Jess got to tag along that night. Here are a few of some great photos taken that night:

CJ Miles

Mehmet Okur

Laura's boyfriend, Deron Williams. She's twitter-paited. She's was waiting alllll night just to tell Deron "I think you're cool."

Matt Harpring

My father-in-law and Paul Millsap

Jerry Sloan

My niece Ivy and Gordon Hayward

My mother-in-law. I love this pic of her!

The proof!

Aren't you jealous???

Big Boy

These pics were taken by crew's aunt whitney. always so good :)

This little bugger is now 13 months old. can you believe it? Here are some recent quirks of this little buddy:

1. is walking. he took his first initial steps by himself the day before his first b-day, but can now walk to where he needs to go. cruising around on his hands and knees, however, is still his quickest way of getting around.
2. loves to give kisses on the lips to mom and dad. even with the recent episode of a runny nose, it's still cute as ever.
3. loves cars, blocks, balls, tupperware, and stuffed animals.
4. says "dada" and "daddy" and "eh". that's about it. not even an "mmmm" sound for "mama" yet. we'll keep working on it.
5. still loves his baby food. but is off formula and bottles. officially loves whole milk.
6. loves his darn binky. im def not brave enough to boot that one out yet.
7. has a total of 4 teeth: 2 on top and 2 on bottom.
8. a wonderful sleeper. a solid 12 hrs/night.
9. loves to take baths/showers.
10. stalks his mom around all day.

Crew turns the big 1!!!

I cannot believe my little buskin is 1 year! I won't say that time has gone fast, because it took a lot of work to get here, but I can honestly say how fun it's been to watch him grow into a big boy. He was such a difficult baby for the first 7 months, but then miraculously changed into a cheerful, walkin, talkin, sleepin, toddler!!! Life is good. He is so fun, so sweet, and so loved. We had a party for him at our little apt, but of course we wanted to invite the whole family! To say the least, it was a packed house. We were also lucky enough to have my mom come and visit for the new year and his birthday. Thanks grammy for hanging out for a few days!

Thanks to all for the presents! Like I said before, he's set for life on toys.

My attempt at making something creative. It was supposed to by a croc. It may have not been pretty, but it tasted good!

Crew thought it tasted good too.
